I'm sure everyone looking at this has already seen the pictures and read about the devastation caused by the weather last weekend. So at this stage of things I fail to see any benefit in me reminding everyone about it or showing anymore pictures of other peoples misery. That's not to say I haven't been concerned or troubled by what happened because I have. Some of the places worst affected are very dear to me and many are where I've spent some of my happiest hours in life. We do have to move on however, and for me that meant getting back out for a walk.
I'd normally start this walk from the parking spaces next to Castlerigg Stone Circle but the roads were very icy this morning so I played it safe and parked on the main road at the A591 end of Castle Lane. This meant I' be looking at this view of Blencathra at the beginning of the walk instead of at the end of it.
