Roadside parking, Binsey Cottage

There isn't much room along here I'm afraid; four cars if you're lucky. Then again, and quite wrongly in my opinion, Binsey has a reputation of being an "also visited" fell, so the chances are that you'll still get a parking space.

I'd set off to go somewhere else today, but to my annoyance I got caught in a few heavy showers on the drive from home. Not wishing to walk in the rain when I was only heading out for a short walk anyway, I had a quick rethink and after noticing it looking a bit brighter, I decided to head across here instead.

It makes you wonder how it manages to stay upright.

This view across to the northern fells help to show how hazy it was today. There may not have been any long distance clear views but it was still very pleasant up here today.

Looking across to the Uldale Fells.

A close up of Overwater, Latrigg (not the Keswick one) and in the background are the Uldale fells.

A close up of Uldale.

Binsey summit and the cairn seen in the previous photo.

Just past the summit and here's another cairn. On a nice day the countryside over there is really lovely. Today; you'll have to take my work for it.

Dramatic skies over Bassenthwaite Lake and the north western fells.

Rather than head straight back down the path, I did a loop of West Crag, headed down to the intake wall above Fell End and simply followed the wall back to the car park.

Almost back at the car now. No, not in that direction; it's behind me.
