Although these is a car park in Caldbeck, there is also an abundance of roadside parking, so for the sake of simplicity I've just described this entry as roadside parking.

The sign on the door says "Old Map Shop". Perhaps it's a very old sign or it isn't open very often.

Looking back down the road to Wath.

Last nights hard frost made sure there was plenty of ice for us to try and avoid. The grass verges proved useful on more then one occasion today.

Looking back to the last houses we passes before reaching the open fellside.

"Don't slip today, it's far too cold to be walking about in wet clothes".

Passing by Little Fellside.

Looking down to Fellside.
The track we followed off the fell took us down the right hand side of the buildings.

"If you keep pulling faces you'll stay like that"

Looking up to High Pike.

A close up of the distant Pennines.

You've never got your ice skates when you need them.

Icy roads at Wath.

"I thought you might want to go in there. I'll wait over here, , , , , just beyond the reach of temptation"

Before we headed back, we had a walk through the village where we had a look inside the church.

"Arise, my good and faithful servant, and here, have yourself a boiled egg"

There she goes again.

This is an ingenious way to recycle. Make your Christmas tree decorations out of wool and when you take them down, you can knit yourself a jumper or a hat or something.
