Roadside parking, Loweswater (waterend)

Assuming that everyone parks properly, there is room for quite a few cars along here. This is my prefered starting point for a circuit of Loweswater or a walk onto the Fellbarrow / Low Fell ridge.

Darling Fell, seen from the new raised section of path through the boggy bit between the road and Hudson Place Farm..

Heading down to Loweswater from Hudson Place farm.

Holme Wood.

Loweswater bothy.

I can understand people throwing stones onto the ice; I did it myself. Each one was hurled into the air, and then, , , , a moment of hope that this was the stone which would break through the ice. I'm not sure what anyone would hope to achieve by chucking twigs and pieces of wood about though.

No rowing across the lake today.

Low Fell and Whiteside.

Looking back to the lake from the track leading to Maggie's Bridge.

This was one of the many geese that were feeding near the track. I always think they look angry when you see their head from the side.

Hen Comb and Gavel Fell.

Carling Knott and Burnbank Fell.

I took this picture just before I joined the main road. Fells in the picture are Whiteside, Grasmoor, Whiteless Pike Robinson and Rannerdale Knotts.

On the road now and looking across to Gavel Fell and Carling Knott.

A view down Loweswater to Mellbreak and Hen Comb.
