Roadside Parking, Calebreck

There's room for about ten cars here, but because of it's location, it's unlikely that all the spaces will ever be occupied.

This is an opportune starting point for the quiet fells around the Caldbeck / Hesket Newmarket area.

We were let down by the weather today, but we can't complain really. I suppose one downside to picking a date and arranging a walk five or so weeks in advance is that you can't plan it around the weather. You just have to accept what you're given.

The slopes of Carrock Fell, showing the top of the fell under cloud.

Looking back down the fell with the drizzle beginning to move towards us.

Time for Rachel and myself to put our jackets on.

Carrock Fell summit.

Passing the cairn on Miton Hill.

High Pike summit. Father reading the inscription on the seat and Son taking a picture of the trig column.

That's better.

Looking down the side of West Fell.

And looking back up with High Pike still under cloud.

By the time we got to this point the day was starting to change. The rain had stopped and it was a bit brighter.

Typical; just as we got back to the cars the ridge was clear and the sky was turning blue.
Never mind, it was still good to get out. The crack was good, it was the first time I'd set off from this spot and Rachel had the best home made cake(s) waiting for us at their house than I've had in a long time.
