Car park, Rosthwaite, Borrowdale

There are actually two car parks right next to each other in Rosthwaite. One is the official car park and this is reflected in the pay and display price. The other one is simply a number of parking spaces adjoining Rosthwaite Village Hall which has a honesty box on the wall of the building.
I know which one I'd rather give my money to.

It was a wet morning at home today, so we delayed our start by a couple of hours to give the rain a chance to pass. At least this way we'd get a dry walk; even if it was going to be dull and overcast.

Looking across to Castle Crag.

A winters day in Rosthwaite; not quite the hive of activity it is during the summer months.

The River Derwent seen from New bridge.

Everywhere was wet, slushy and slippery today, and more than one occasion we needed our quickest of reactions to stop us ending up on our backsides.

Did someone say it was slippery.
"What have you lost?"
(and after a long silence Jennifer said)
"Nothing, , , except my sanity for following you up here."

"I'm not sure what difference it'll make, but you can go first if you want to"

Castle Crag, taken from the point where we joined the main track which runs between Grange and Honister Pass.

The path we followed more or less sticks to a route just above the wall seen running away to the lowest point on the skyline.

Looking back to Castle Crag.

And again.

Heading down to Seatoller now, and for a brief spell along here it was snowing.

Walking into Seatoller, , ,

, , , and out of it.

Borrowdale Church, Stonethwaite.
