Car park, Aira Force, Park Brow

Aira Force remains one of the Lake Districts crowd pullers and although the main car park and the tea shop for the waterfalls is found lower down, close to Ullswater itself. This car park is actually the closest to the falls.

Parking is free, but spaces are limited.

Ullswater seen across the fields below Park Brow.

At the far end of the lake you can see a snow topped St Sunday Crag.

A close up of hundreds of coins 'hammered' into an old tree trunk laying next to the path.

And not so close up. The previous picture shows just how close the coins are to each other, and almost the whole trunk was covered in them.

And still the autumn colours hang on.

Aira Force putting on a good show for us.

And from the same place, looking around to the bridge over Aira Beck.

At the higher bridge now.

Looking down onto Aira Force from the bridge.

Again; this time showing the lower bridge and people standing on the 'viewing platform'.

The higher bridge again.

High Force. Not quite a photogenic as Aira Force, but certainly more ferocious.

It had rained for almost all the walk, but it was bucketing down now. Never mind; it was still nice to get out.

Heading back up to the car park on Park Brow.
