Mungrisdale Village

Mungrisdale is without doubt a small place but it does still have a couple of different options for parking. Rather than list them separately, I've simply grouped them together as Mungrisedale Village. The map shows the various places on offer.

I was across in the north east this morning where the weather was almost wall to wall sunshine. I was hopeful that the blue sky would extend back as far as the Lake District, but sadly this wasn't to be the case. I did get a little sunshine at the start of the walk, but the cloud soon moved across from the west. Never mind; it was still nice to get out, even if it was only a short walk.

Leaving Mungrisdale.

Well, there goes the blue sky.

And then, when I reached the Souther Fell ridge someone turned the light off.

Blencathra seen behind Bannerdale Crags.

Dramatic skies above St John's in the Vale and Clough Head.

That's better, a little patch of blue sky above Bowscale Fell.

More drama.

A close up of Great Mell Fell.

This is a lovely stretch of road between Scales and Mungrisdale, and although the more popular option to get back to Mungrisdale would have been to drop down to the other side of Souther Fell, this is just as nice.

Clough Head and Great Dodd.
