Roadside parking, near Wythop Church

This litterally is parking alongside the road, with more of the car being on than off the road. There are some wider spaces in front of the church, but for instant access to the fellside below Sale Fell this is the beat spot.

Obviously parking is free along here.

Binsey (Binsa) and Bassenthwaite Lake.

Sale Fell summit looking across to some of the Back O'Skiddaw fells.

Zooming across to the Eastern Fells showing everything from Great Dodd on the left to Helvellyn Lower Man.

And looking around towards Skiddaw, Ullock Pike, Longside and Dodd. On the far right the two fells are Clough Head and Great Dodd.

Another picture of Binsey, this one taken shortly after leaving Sale Fell summit.

Looking back across to the summit after the short walk to Rivings. The gate in the wall is the same one seen in the previous photo.

A close up of Dodd.

Looking back along the track I followed to the ruins of the old church and Kelswick Farm.

And again.

The ruins of Wythop's old church.

This is a lovely quiet area between Sale Fell (out of picture, left) and Broom Fell (out of picture, right) with some nice countryside to explore; perfect on a warm afternoon such as this, when time is short.

Daffodils in abundance at Wythop's new church.
