Parking spaces, Martindale new church

There are plenty of parking spaces next to Martindale's new church and what a fantastic area this is. Found on what I'd call the back side of Ullswater this is as close as you're going to get to unspoilt.

The sheer quantity of walks that can be done from here would rival any other area in the Lake District, it may take a little more imagination and inventiveness than some places, but there really is something to suit everyone.

Parking is free.

Martindale Old Church.

And again with Beda Fell behind.

Looking across to Winter Crag farm (I think) from the same place as the previous picture.

The route I followed up Steel Knotts gives some lovely views through Martindale, like this one looking down to the Old Church.

Steel Knots summit with Ullswater.

Steel Knotts and Ullswater again, taken from the path up to Brownthwaite Crag.

This photo of Ullswater and the upper section of Fusedale was taken between Brownthwaite Crag and Gowk Hill.

One of the ruins near Gowk Hill. Note the doorway on the far side of the building. I'm not exactly sure what the building was used for, but the top of the doorway was lower then my shoulders.

Fusedale with Steel Knotts on the left and Ullswater in the valley.

Groove Gill.

A little further down the valley I noticed the remains of this old bridge over Fusedale Beck.

Another photo looking through Fusedale.

When I reached the Howtown end of Fusedale I turned left and followed the path below Steel End and then this track which takes you back to Martindale New church.

Looking down to the new church (in the trees) and Martindale, from the path up Hallin Fell.

Hallin Fell summit (Obelisk).

One last picture of Martindale, this one was taken from Hallin Fell.
