Parking spaces, Peter House Farm, Orthwaite

The half a dozen or so spaces here are found along some very narrow roads around the northern side of the Lake District. In places, you just hope you don't meet anything coming in the opposite direction. Even though there isn't a great deal of space, this is somewhere I'm always confident about getting parked.

This spot offers convenient access to the Uldale / back of Skiddaw fells, and the track leading to Skiddaw House.

Binsey from the track between Peter House Farm and Dash Farm.

Binsey again this time with Overwater. Taken from Great Cockup.
I had another walk in the northern fells today. There was still plenty of snow on the fells, so it was a good day to walk in an area that is usually very boggy in places.

Meal Fell taken from the path off Great Cockup. Little Sca Fell and Great Sca Fell are the two fells behind.

The cloud that was in the last picture had almost gone by now and I spent most of the day walking in sunshine. The first two people I saw when I got home both said I had caught the sun.

From the side of Little Sca Fell looking towards Skiddaw.
The fells sloping down in the foreground are Frozen Fell and Burn Tod.

Back up in the snow again and at Great Sca Fell summit.

High Pike (left) and Carrock Fell (right) from just below Knott summit.

The ice that was all around the summit was so thin there was no fear of slipping as it just gave way with every step.

Another brief build up of cloud as I was looking across to Great Calva from the path off Knott.

Looking back across to Knott.

Great Calva.
This was my last steep ascent of the day. It turned out to be an extremely strenuous climb after walking through snow covered heather and grass for most of the day.

Great Calva's very icy summit shelter.

Lonscale Fell from inside the shelter.

Bakestall from the path across to Little Calva.
