Just one of a series of small car parks along this section of road . This one offering the quickest access to Rannerdale Knotts and the small valley of Rannerdale, which during the latter part of spring has one of the best displays of blue bells you'll find anywhere.

Parking is free.

Crummock Water and Buttermere from the path up to Rannerdale Knotts.

Looking back down the route towards Crummock Water.
A couple of minutes after taking this I was in the cloud.

Rannerdale Knotts summit.

A very brief gap in the clouds, just long enough to take this picture of Buttermere.

High Rannerdale with Crummock Water in the distance.

Rowentree Beck.

A little further along the route and Rowentree Beck has joined forces with Squat Beck.

A wooden bridge across Squat Beck.
The route I took followed the wall. I crossed the bridge to take the photo then continued to follow the wall around the bottom of Dale How.

Below Dale How.
The fell in the background is Mellbreak.

No confusion here.
Almost at the end of the walk with Crummock Water and the lower slopes of Mellbreak seen from the fields behind Rannerdale Farm.

And again from a little further along the path.
