Yew Tree Tarn

Map

This is definitely the easiest tarn to visit in the Lake District. A roadside car park runs alongside the tarn and should the weather be a little too wet for a walk around the tarn, you can still manage to get a good view without the need to open the car doors. Those who wish to see a little more of the area can park next to the tarn and then enjoy a walk up nearby Holme Fell, Tarn Hows or just a short walk as far as Yew Tree Farm; one of the many properties in the Lake District owned by the more than famous Beatrix Potter.

The tarn was dammed in the 1930s by the landowner. Yew Tree Tarn is controlled by Coniston, Torver and District Angling Association who stock the fishery with brown trout averaging around a pound.
